We are pleased to inform you that the 8th IC-GU12 Roundtable 2020 will be held as follows;

Regarding the changes in the implementation method of the Entrance Examination for 2021
To, All applicants of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Gifu University,
The application guideline is subject to change depending on the situation of COVID-19 in order to prevent the spread of infection. Information will be updated through the website of UGAS-GU(http://www.ugsas.gifu-u.ac.jp/eng/), so applicants are advised to take a close look at the website.
Please note that, there will be no changes in the schedule of application periods, date of examinations, and the contents of oral examinations.Regards,

Extending our sincerest condolences for the loss of Dr. Shakil Uddin Ahmed
Dear Alumni and Friends of UGSAS,
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of one of talented alumni, Dr. Shakil Uddin Ahmed, Professor of soil, water and environment at Dhaka University.
He passed away on 31th May, 2020, from Covid-19.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences for the loss of him.

UGSAS, GU Policy for Prevention of the New Corona Virus (COVID-19) Infection (updated on June 3)
To UGSAS,GU Students,
Note: This policy is valid from June 4th. The revisions from the previous policy as of May 4th are shown in red.
I. Lecture
-
Lectures will start on May 7th. However, they should be basically done by on-line education using ICT. Regarding Specialized Subjects, you should contact your supervisor and co-supervisors how they deliver.

"Special Lectures on Agriculture I (Japanese)" will be held during 17-19 June using WebEX that is a kind of Teleconference system. A student can join from either home or his/her laboratory. When both are unavailable, contact to Renno Office. Details are informed later.

"Integrated Agricultural Seminar" will be held on Oct 21st to 23rd which changed from Aug 26th to 28th. "Researcher Ethics, Professional Ethics" (held on Aug 20th and 27th) and "Mental Health, Physical Health" (Aug 21st) will be held by using Web lecture or e-Learning system. Details are informed later. We will notify you by AIMS if the schedule changed.
- Midterm presentation is allowed by using Teleconference and/or E-mail from June 4th till Sep 30th. After conducting either way, students should submit the report via E-mail to UGSAS office (renno@gifu-u.ac.jp) in a few days. Also, UGSAS rooms open and you can use for the midterm presentation but note that please conduct with avoid the 'Three Cs' for preventing COVID-19 outbreaks.
In case of Teleconference: Presentation should be done using e.g. Zoom, MS-Teams, Skype. Note that every participant must keep social distance.
In case of E-mail method: A student prepares a PowerPoint file with notes, sends it to supervisors, and receives their comments.
Using SINET room method: Be sure to wash your hands, wear masks, take sheets with keep distance as much as you can. Also ventilate the room every 30 minutes. Do not participate if you are feeling not well.II. Research Activities
- Student at Gifu Campus whose supervisor belongs to Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences:
If you conduct face-to-face seminar and meeting, be sure to be minimize the contact opportunities with other students and faculties. You should wear a mask, keep your fingers and hands sanitized and avoid the 3 C's (Closed space, Crowed places, Conversation at a short distance) in the campus. In addition, please keep social distance also at lunchtime.
- Student at Shizuoka Campus and Student at Gifu Campus whose supervisor belongs to NOT Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences:
You should consult with your supervisor adequately (by E-mail, phone or etc.) and follow his/her instruction. You should also obey the policy of your supervisor's affiliation.
- Regarding field investigation, you should consult with your supervisor adequately. When investigation is done by not alone, be sure to avoid the 3 C's (Closed space, Crowed places, Conversation at a short distance). Investigation with accommodation is not recommended.
IV. Others
- Entrance ceremony will be postponed to October with New Students enroll in Fall.
- UGSAS opens the main conference room at 6th floor in UGSAS Bldg. only for students who do not have a flat-rate web communication (Wi-Fi etc.) at home. This is a part of measures to prevent the spread of infection. Please fully understand for use.

UGSAS, GU Policy for Prevention of the New Corona Virus (COVID-19) Infection (as of April 14)
To UGSAS,GU Students,
The UGSAS, GU would like to infrom you the Policy for Prevention of the New Corona Virus (COVID-19) Infection as below.
I. Lecture
- Lectures will start on May 7th. However, they should be basically done by on-line education using ICT. Regarding Specialized Subjects, you should contact your supervisor and co-supervisors how they deliver.
- Schedule and methods of "Special Lectures on Agriculture I (Japanese)" to be held in June and "Integrated Agricultural Seminar", "Researcher Ethics, Professional Ethics" and "Mental Health, Physical Health" to be held in August are subject to change according to the situation of the Corona Virus infection.
- Midterm presentation is allowed only by using ICT tools (e.g. Zoom, MS-Teams, Skype) and/or E-mail until May 20th. Every participant cannot be in a same room until May 6th, when using ICT tools. In case of E-mail method, a student prepares a PowerPoint file with notes, sends it to supervisors, and receives their comments. After conducting either way, students should submit the report in a few days. UGSAS rooms are closed for a while and you cannot use for the midterm presentation.
II. Subject Registration [for Freshman]
- The deadline of "Registration Card" and "Credit Transfer Application" is April 30th. You should submit them via E-mail (renno@gifu-u.ac.jp) using the forms uploaded on AIMS-Gifu. When the University System resumed normally, we request to submit them with the seal again.
III. Research Activities
- Student at Gifu Campus whose supervisor belongs to Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences:
- Gifu campus is closed until May 6th. Basically, students should not visit the campus during this period. If you have to come to the campus due to inevitable reason (e.g. for taking care of plants, unstoppable ongoing project and so on), you must consult with your supervisor. Before coming to the campus, your supervisor must submit the activity plan to the Faculty office and you have to check and record your temperature and health (symptom of coughing, sneezing and etc.). After your activities, your supervisor has to submit the report.
- From May 7th, minimum required research activities are allowed without permission. But UGSAS recommends the students to work at home as much as possible. Before coming to the campus, you still have to check and record your temperature and health (symptom of coughing, sneezing and etc.). Also, face-to-face seminar and meeting is not allowed yet. Be sure to be minimize the contact opportunities with other students and faculties.
- Student at Shizuoka Campus and Student at Gifu Campus whose supervisor belongs to NOT Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences:

[Postpone] AY 2020 Entrance Ceremony (updated on April 14)
In light of the situation regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Gifu University has made the difficult decision to postpone the entrance ceremony for the 2020 academic year that was scheduled to be held on April 10.
The entrance ceremony for AY 2020 is re-scheduled to be held on April 24 October 2.

[Postpone] AY 2020 Entrance Ceremony
In light of the situation regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Gifu University has made the difficult decision to postpone the entrance ceremony for the 2020 academic year that was scheduled to be held on April 10.
The entrance ceremony for AY 2020 is re-scheduled to be held on April 24.

International Symposium on a New Era in Food Science & Technology 2019
The UGSAS-GU would like to announce you that "International Symposium on a New Era in Food Science and Technology 2019" will be held on October 9 -10, 2019 at the Main Seminar room in 6 Floor of the UGSAS-GU Building. In addition, UGSAS-GU & BWEL Joint Poster Session on Agricultural and Basin Water Environmental Science will be held during the symposium.
Food science is an important discipline not only for maintaining human life, but also for developing the quality of life of people. Research on food quality improvement and research on food safety and functionality for promoting human health are becoming increasingly important. This international symposium provides extensive information on scientific and technological progress in a new era that is changing what we want for food. It deals with current technology, identifies key issues, and discusses effective solutions.
