About the Symposium
The Sustainable Innovations in Food and Plant Science Symposium will be held on October 26-27, 2026, at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Bangkok, Thailand.
This symposium is organized as part of the activities of the International Consortium of Universities in South and Southeast Asia for the Doctoral Education in Agricultural Science and Biotechnology (IC-GU12), an international academic consortium established under the initiative of Gifu University.
The symposium aims to promote international academic exchange, provide researchers and students with opportunities to share their latest research findings, and further strengthen educational and research collaboration among IC-GU12 member and partner universities.
The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite university faculty members, researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students to submit proposals for oral presentations.

Symposium Scope
The symposium provides an interdisciplinary platform for sharing recent scientific findings, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches related to food and plant sciences.
It adopts a broad and interdisciplinary view of food and plant science, encompassing plant production, plant-environment interactions, postharvest management, food processing, and the sustainable utilization of plant-derived resources.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Food science, food engineering, and food processing
- Food quality, safety, preservation, and evaluation
- Postharvest physiology, technology, and quality management
- Functional properties and value-added utilization of plant-derived foods and materials
- Fermentation, food microbiology, and biotechnology
- Plant physiology, plant production, and crop science
- Forest physiology, forest ecology, and sustainable forest management
- Soil science and plant-soil interactions
- Plant-insect interactions, insect ecology, and pest management
- Precision cultivation, sensing, automation, and smart farming technologies
- Sustainable utilization of plant resources, biomass, and agricultural by-products
- Climate-resilient food and plant production systems
- Innovative analytical, biological, and engineering approaches in food and plant science
- Other interdisciplinary research related to the sustainability of food and plant systems
Both fundamental and applied research are welcome.
Eligibility
Applications are open to:
- University faculty members and researchers
- Graduate students
- Undergraduate students
All applicants are expected to give an oral presentation at the symposium.
Oral Presentation Guidelines
- All presentations must be delivered in English.
- Only oral presentations will be accepted.
- Presenters are expected to attend and deliver their presentations in person at KMUTT.
- Each presenter may normally submit one presentation.
- Presentation slides should be prepared in English.
- A computer, projector, and screen will be available at the venue.
- Each presentation will consist of 12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for discussion (tentative).
The detailed presentation schedule and further instructions will be provided after the application deadline.

Please submit one response for each presenter.
Abstract Preparation
The abstract should:
- Be written in English
- Clearly state the background and objective of the study
- Briefly describe the methods or approach
- Present the principal findings or expected contribution
- Include a clear conclusion
- Be approximately 200-300 words in length
- Contain three to five keywords
After submitting the presentation application form, applicants will receive an automatic confirmation email with the abstract template attached and instructions for uploading the completed abstract file.
Previously presented research may also be accepted if it is relevant to the symposium.

- Presentation application and abstract submission deadline: August 31, 2026
- Notification of acceptance: September 7, 2026
- Final program announcement: September 21, 2026
- Symposium dates: October 26-27, 2026
Review and Acceptance
Presentation applications will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee based on:
- Relevance to the symposium scope
- Scientific or academic content
- Clarity of the abstract
- Suitability for oral presentation
Applicants will be notified of the acceptance of their presentations by email. Depending on the number of applications and the time available in the symposium program, the Organizing Committee may limit the number of oral presentations.
Participation Fee
There is no participation fee for presenters.
